What to expect

INITIAL CONSULTATION

Plenty of time will be allocated  for you to explain what is wrong. You will be asked for details of your previous medical history along with details of your current complaint. After this the chiropractor will perform a comprehensive examination and a (very) in-depth biomechanical assessment to find out what is wrong and determine if chiropractic is likely to help.

At Clevedon Chiropractic we will always aim to treat you on your first visit unless x-rays or further investigation is required. Therefore the report of findings  will be given at your first visit (or later if X-ray or further tests are needed). We will explain what is wrong, what can or cannot be done and what you should expect. The most appropriate treatment plan for your condition will be outlined

TREATMENT

Treatment usually involves precise gentle manipulation, called an 'adjustment', of the spine and other joints using an Impulse iQ® instrument. The advantage of this over manually “cracking”  the joint is that the device delivers a thrust 100x faster than can be done by hand. This allows the adjustment to be delivered in a relaxed, usually face down position without any need for twisting.  Other gentle techniques may be incorporated such as taping, soft tissue massage, and rehabilitation exercises. This is combined with advice and patient education.

The course of treatment will always be tailored to your individual needs. Typically, acute recent complaints respond quickly between 3-6 treatments. Chronic long standing complaints take longer, typically between 6-12 visits. The average number of treatments is 6. Thereafter, occasional treatment may be required to maintain improvement.

RESPONSE TO TREATMENT

Rapid and remarkable improvements are often observed in response to acute recent conditions. While chronic longstanding problems may take more time, positive responses are achievable. We have a high success rate in helping most patients, even in cases where other approaches have fallen short.

CHECK UPS

If your problem is already chronic (longstanding), or re-occurs frequently, research suggests you may benefit from periodic check-ups to maintain improvement. Much like regular servicing for your car!
